Caring for Others

by | Jun 27, 2025 | Caring, Helping, Love

Let each of you look not only to his interests but also to the interests of others.

(Philippians 2:4 ESV)

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

(Ephesians 4:32 ESV)

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have a love for one another.

(John 13:34-35 ESV)

What does it mean to care for others? Does it mean to let your own needs go to help someone else? I don’t think so. Besides if you can’t take care of yourself how can you help someone else? I don’t think you can.

According to Merriam-Webster, caring is “feeling or showing concern for or kindness to others.” How hard could it be? I try to show concern for others. I try to be caring towards others.  But I will admit that it’s hard where some people are concerned. Once you show that you care for someone and want to help them, it seems like you have taken that person to care for the rest of their or your life.

Do you think Jesus showed that He cared for others? I do. How about when he fed all those people? He didn’t have to feed them. He could have just sent them on their way. How about when He turned water into wine at the wedding? He could have just left the water alone. But He didn’t. Jesus cared about people a lot more than we ever can. He knew what was coming, but He kept showing love to others.

That’s what it’s all about anyway. Showing love to others. If you don’t love people, it’s hard to have concern for them. So the next time you find someone unlovable, just show you care about them and see what happens.

Have a great day, everyone.
