“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13. ESV)
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 ESV)
Life happens! Joy gets stolen away from you. Do you let it happen or do you fight back?
I fight back! And so should you.
It’s been a rough week. Won’t go into details because it doesn’t matter. But I let the devil temporarily steal my joy. I say temporarily because I quickly realized what was happening and started fighting back. I like being happy and full of joy. I make a better version of me when I am happy and joyful.
As the Hulk says, “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.” So I try to stay away from the dark side. It’s not a fun place to be.
But God didn’t create us to be angry all the time. He created us to be filled with joy, hope and peace. The following is part of the song, “I Choose Joy” by King and Country:
“Gotta get that fire, fire, back in my bones
Before my heart, heart, turns into stone
So somebody please pass the megaphone
I’ll shout it on the count of three
One, two, three
Oh, hear my prayer tonight,
I’m singing to the sky
Give me strength to raise my voice, let me testify
Oh, hear my prayer tonight, ’cause this is do or die
The time has come to make a choice
And I choose joy.”
The time has come and the time is now. What do you choose? Joy or anger? As for me, I choose Joy!
