A Because You Called my Name

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Poems, Relationship, Salvation

Long before the beginning of time,

I was chosen by You to be called “Mine”

When I was born one Tuesday morn,

Even though I was rejected before I was born.

You inspired my Granny to teach me your name.

All this because you knew me and called my name.

Growing up wasn’t so easy to do

At least when in trouble I knew

Who to turn to.

As taught by my Granny instinctively to do

Go down on bended knee in fervent plea,

And all this because you knew and called me.

Without me knowing day and night

Watching me grow, learning to live my daily fight.

Every day You waited, watched, guided, led and helped me

Answering many a silent thought and prayer.

Keeping me safe from harm always ready always there.

Many a day was spent in your house visiting you

All because it was the right thing to do

Never really realizing how precious You are

Till 1975 3 weeks before turning 16 you showed me a Star.

A long way from home came your messenger Pastor Giles

From the Assembly of God in the USA – many many miles.

This is the day you had decided would our meeting day be

With dragging feet, a push and a shove,

I walked down the aisle into your blinding glorious love

Since then you’ve been by my side, through thick and thin

A Rock, the foundation, keeping me steady and sane

All this – because You knew and called me by name.

Whatever happens now or how rough life’s ride

Never leave me, always be my Guide

Teaching me learning me all I can be,

All through my life’s journey

Just make sure when You call me – I don’t care

That at the gates You’ll be waiting, and my seeing

You there Showered in Mercy, Your Glory forever I’ll share.
