Best Possible Advice for the New Year: Let God Handle It!

by | Dec 30, 2024 | Frustration, New Year, Surrender

“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

(Exodus 14:14 ESV)

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow, go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.”

(2 Chronicles 20:17 ESV)

I saw this on Facebook yesterday:

“As bad as you want to address it, some things are better left unsaid. Sometimes, you need to stand back, stay humble, and let God fight the battle.”

I hate conflict. I hate confrontation. But push me far enough, and I will fight back. How many times have I bit my tongue to keep myself from saying something better left unsaid? More times than I can count. Some people say I am a pushover. I say I am a warrior who knows how to pick my battles.

But either way, God is right here fighting for me. He  fights for you, too. I just wonder how many times Jesus had to bite His tongue to keep from saying something better left unsaid? I can imagine quite a few times.

The next time you want to strike out in anger or frustration, stop. Take a deep breath and think about what you were about to say. My grandma used to say you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Have a fabulous day.
