The Manger

by | Dec 27, 2021 | Christmas, Sacrifice

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared unto them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were sore afraid. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'” (Luke 2:8-12 NKJ)

While looking for whatever on the internet, I saw an article that caught my attention. It was about the birth of Jesus. But it didn’t really go into the actual birth or his life. It talked about the manger. It said He probably wasn’t actual born in a stable as we know them today. It was probably a cave. It said the animals were brought in at night to protect them from predators. That place was usually a cave under the house.

It also talked about the manger. We always see pictures of wooden mangers. But actually it would have been made of stone. Can you imagine laying in a bed made of stone? I can’t either.

But just think what that birth meant to us. Jesus came so we can live.

Merry Christmas! Have a safe and happy day!
