“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17 ESV)
I know this is a busy time of year. Christmas is next week. Presents should be bought, wrapped and under the tree by now. People are still shopping, braving the crowds to find the latest, greatest whatever. There never seems to be enough time to get everything done.
But have you forgetting something? You can check your list but I can pretty much guarantee it won’t be on it. Jesus! It is His birthday you know. Is His name on your list? He doesn’t want much. He has no use for the latest tech item, He doesn’t want a big screen TV. I doubt even He would want a fruit cake. What He wants is us. He want us to make time for Him. Is that too much to ask?
I realized last night that I haven’t spent much time with Him either. I have been busy baking cookies and making candy. I have decided to make a change in my life. I am going to start spending more time with Jesus. I will pray more, I will read my Bible more, I will actively listen for His voice more. That would be a good New Year’s resolution.
But why wait? Let’s do it now. Jesus wants you! And me! Let’s spend more time with the best Friend we could have.
