Jesus Is All We Need

by | Sep 3, 2021 | New Life, Priority, Treasures

“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2 NKJV)

“Then Jesus said, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?'” (John 11:40 NKJV)

While doing some work on my computer yesterday, the song Only Jesus by Casting Crowns came on.:

“All the kingdoms built, all the trophies won
Will crumble into dust when it’s said and done
‘Cause all that really mattered
Did I live the truth to the ones I love?
Was my life the proof that there is only One
Whose name will last forever?
And I, I don’t want to leave a legacy
I don’t care if they remember me
Only Jesus
And I, I’ve only got one life to live
I’ll let every second point to Him
Only Jesus.”

I have written about this song before but I love it. Jesus is all we need. People chase fame and fortune but in the end, all we really need is Jesus.

I decided long ago I don’t need fame or fortune. Sure, money is nice to have and makes your life easier but as they say, you can’t take it with you when you go. So what’s the use of having a humongous bank balance. I wouldn’t be able to hang onto it anyway. I would see someone in need and help them. I would give someone in need my last dollar if I thought they needed it worse than me. In fact, I have before.

But that’s good isn’t it? Aren’t we supposed to do that? Jesus would I do believe. The song says “I don’t want to leave a legacy. I don’t care if they remember me. Only Jesus.” I want to live my life in such a way that people see Jesus in me. I want them to see the love Jesus has for each of us. I want them all to crave what I have.

Am I there yet? No. But I am working on it. I am getting there. We all need more of Jesus. I am going to work hard to live more for him. Because Jesus is all I need.
