The Corrupt

by | Jul 24, 2019 | Poems, Sin, Warfare

They feed us with sweet lies,
And furnish it with scraps of truth.
They cover their thought with their smile,
To lead us away from what is right.

They feast on the fruits we gathered,
Gorging themselves on our soup and meat.
And we serve them with truth and honesty,
That we may walk the path that is sacred.

They took power by force and cruelty,
They took power by stealth and tricks,
They took power by betraying the law,
And all the goodness the light stands for.

They shed the sacred attire that shimmers,
They shed the life of of mirth and peace,
They shed the skin of truth and harmony,
And surrender to the taste and awe of power.

They heard the dark voice of greatness,
And some surrender to the song willingly.
They heard the dark voice of greatness,
And some chose the comfort they found in it.
