Knowing God, Part 1: The Advantages

by | Nov 21, 2015 | Knowing God, Knowing God (A Mini-Series), Relationship

“Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.  His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” (2 Peter 1:2-4)

Grace, peace, divine power, godliness . . .

Quite the list, isn’t it? And if you read the text correctly, you will notice that all of these things are not just promised to us, but they are already given to us! “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness . . .” and “Grace and peace be yours in abundance . . .”!

Isn’t it great to be a child of God?

But if Christians have already been given these things, how come we don’t always feel at peace? How come we still fall into the trap of doubt and guilt? How come we can’t do miracles?

Let’s look at see if the answer lies in the text: “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” and “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him . . .” (emphasis mine).

Yup. It appears twice. When God repeats Himself, you know He is trying to make a point! And the point is this: All these things (grace, peace, divine power — everything we need for life and godliness) are available through a knowledge of Him! Perhaps we aren’t living the blessings God has for us because we don’t have the knowledge of Him!

But there is more!

“Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” (2 Peter 1:4)   Yes, my friends, a knowledge of God can not only bring us grace, peace, and everything we need for life, but it also opens the door for His very great and precious promises, so that YOU may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world!

Do you know God? I mean, really know God? If the idea of grace, peace, everything you need for life and godliness appeals to you and you have never given your heart to God, why not answer the Savior’s Call today? To do so,  Click here (http://answers2prayer.org/saviours_call.html) .

If you have already accepted Jesus into your heart, but you are not sure that you truly know God, why not start today? More than anything, Jesus wants us to commune with Him. Why not try spending quality time with Him everyday, learn to love Him, learn to trust Him with every part of your life, then sit back and drink in the grace, the peace, and everything you need for life and godliness!
