Life’s Storms

by | Jun 16, 2022 | Surrender, Trials

“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

(Mark 4:39 ESV)

“And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?’ Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”

(Matthew 8:26 ESV)

As the storm was calming down yesterday evening, I was scrolling through Facebook. I saw this:

“Remember, no storm lasts forever.
Hold on.
Be brave.
Have faith!
Every storm is temporary and we never face the storm alone.
God is with us.
Always!”

That applies to weather related storms and personal storms. Weather related storms blow in then blow out. Personal storms tend to stick around a bit longer. They come to distract us and cause anxiety and fear. “How will I pay this bill?”or “My husband (or wife) got laid off. How will we survive?” Plus dozens of other problems. But we have an anchor in the storm. Jesus! He is our anchor, He is our rock, He is there for us to cling to when the storms of life get to be too much for us.

But a lot of people won’t call on Him for help. “Oh, I can do this on my own.” Reality check…no you can’t. When you do try to go it alone, how does it work out for you? When I go it on my own, it never works out as well as it would have if I had let Jesus work it out for me.

So no matter what storms you are facing today, take them to Jesus and let Him work it out for you.

Have a great day.
