Be the Light

by | Sep 29, 2021 | Christian Example, Witnessing

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand and it gives light to all the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 ESV)

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” (John 8:12 ESV)

I grew up singing This Little Light of Mine. There are several verses but this verse is the one we need now. “Don’t let Satan blow it out!” Satan is going full out to extinguish our light. We can’t let him. We need to stay strong in the word and keep our lamps trimmed and full of oil.

We don’t know when Jesus is coming back, so we need to be ready. We need our lamps ready. We need to be the beacon in the dark that guides the lost in.

I was looking for something. I didn’t know what, but I knew I needed something. I was lost. I was raised in church. I gave my heart to Jesus long ago but didn’t really do much about it. We weren’t taught how to actively seek him. Sunday School was basically a babysitting service so the parents didn’t have to be bothered with us during church. We sang cute little choruses, had Bible lessons and ate a snack. We learned about Jonah, Joseph and others. But not how to grow in our walk with God. I have learned more in the last 14 years at New Beginnings, than I did in the 18 years I was at that church.

I know there are people searching, especially now that the world is going crazy. I want to encourage you to be that light in the darkness for others. Guide in the lost, show them the way to salvation.

And if you are lost, here’s your light. I will be the light in the darkness for you. Let me guide you home.

Have a blessed day. I love you all.
