He is the king who reigns on high,
But came to this world so that he may die;
He was born as a babe in Bethlehem,
But was destined to become The Great I Am;
He taught in the temple as a youthful lad,
But the words that he spoke made the Pharisees mad;
He healed the sick and raised the dead,
And with a few fish the hungry he fed;
By one of his own he was betrayed,
Just 30 pieces of silver is all that they gave;
A crown of thorns he was made to wear,
And the whip that was used caused his flesh to tear;
He did not resist nor did he fight,
But freely laid down to give up his life;
They pounded the spikes into his hands,
And into the feet of this most holy man;
The pain that he suffered on Calvary,
Allows us to choose our own destiny;
But do not dismay of this life that was given,
For the best news of all is that our Lord has risen!
