A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
(Proverbs 15:1 ESV)
Words have power. You can build someone up with kind words or tear someone down with harsh or angry words. The wrong words said at the wrong time can cause a lot of damage. But the right words can change a person’s attitude quickly.
Gossip can cause a lot of issues too. You tell someone something and that person tells someone else and may change it a bit. Gossip is like the childhood game we used to play, telephone. One person whispers in someone’s ear and that person in another’s and so on until the last person. The last person then tells what they heard. It is usually not even close to the original.
That is how gossip is. It gets distorted as it gets retold until it is nowhere near the truth. That can tear a person down pretty quickly. I suggest that you try to practice kindness daily. Build people up. There’s so much going on in the world nowadays that it is easy to get discouraged.
Let’s not be that person that tears others down. Let’s build them up. You never know when you might need a kind word or two.
Have a blessed day.
