“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

(Philippians 2:4 ESV)

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

(Hebrews 13:16 ESV)

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

(Galatians 6:2 ESV)

I know we are supposed to help others when we can. I had the occasion to do just that last night. My neighbor got locked out of his apartment. I heard him beating on his window yelling to be let in. He said he let a friend take his key for whatever reason. I called the police for him since he doesn’t have a phone. Long story short, no one was in his apartment. I had to call housing to come out to let him in.

But as I was making phone calls for him, I realized that this is what Jesus expected me to do for him. He expected me to be nice to someone who irritates the tar out of me at times. As I debated about looking outside to see what was going on, the thought, “What would Jesus do” ran through my mind. Jesus wants us to be nice and helpful to the less fortunate among us. He wants us to help others and to tell them about Him.

What do you do when you see people less fortunate than you? Do you look the other way or do you help them? There are a lot of hurting people around. People who just need a helping hand occasionally. I want to encourage everyone today. If you see someone who needs a little help, give it to them if you can. If you want to make Jesus smile, lend a helping hand to others.

Have a fabulous day, everyone.
