May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
(Romans 15:13 ESV)
Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
(John 16:24 ESV)
According to Oxford Languages, joy is, “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” Wouldn’t you like to feel like that all the time? Well, what’s stopping you? Oh yeah, we are still in this corrupt world.
But nothing says we can’t have joy even while still on earth. There are lots of things that can bring you joy. A newborn baby, your child smiling at you and hugging you. A puppy or a kitten. No, I don’t want a pet. A new home or car.
I find joy in little things. My roses blooming. I did not inherit my mom’s green thumb so that is God watching over them. A friend or family member dropping by or calling just to check up on me. Peanut M&M’s. But what brings me the biggest joy is talking to Jesus. He makes my day. Even when He is correcting me. He cares enough about me, a lonely old woman, to take the time and spend it with me. He knows me inside and out and loves me anyway. Jesus brings me joy and a smile on my face just thinking about Him. I cherish the time spent with Him.
Jesus is the source of joy. He is the joy giver. And He will spread it all around just for the asking. Have you asked Jesus to restore your joy? Maybe you just need a little topping off or a complete filling up. Jesus will do it just because you asked.
So ask away. He is waiting for you. Have a great day, everyone.
