The Simplicity of Salvation

by | Feb 3, 2025 | Grace, Salvation

These days, it doesn’t seem like anything is simple anymore. Our lives are increasingly filled with complex transactions, events, and schedules, notwithstanding the occasional moment of head-to-toe shivers from something unexpected that blindsides us. Like you, I know how daily life can often resemble a spinning hamster wheel with no way to slow down or catch your breath.

As mentioned earlier, life is complicated. It’s filled with rules, regulations, and forms to be filled out in triplicate. These days, it seems as though nothing comes easy or free, unless of course, the person in the coffee line ahead of you shows an act of kindness and buys your latte and low-fat blueberry muffin.

What’s my point in all of this, you may ask?

I’m so glad you asked, because I have a gargantuan-sized freebie for you with nothing to negotiate, no exchange of money, and no documents to sign. By now, you might be saying, “No way, Paul. Nothing that good is ever that simple or free.” Well, I have good news for you, my friend!

Do you dream at night? I certainly do, and a few nights ago I was walking and talking to a non-believer about the simplicity of salvation. Why that dream? Honestly, I have no idea other than it possibly being a way for God to remind me, and maybe you, of how easy the steps are in accepting Jesus Christ. You see, we can’t buy our salvation or the eternal life that comes with placing our lives in Jesus’s hands. We can’t clip coupons or join a rewards program to belong to the family of God.

SALVATION is SIMPLE and its FREE!

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)

Here’s another verse to mull over.

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10 NLT)

So, there you have it! The gift of salvation is yours for the taking, no strings attached! It’s simple, and all you have to do is open your mouth and declare that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead. What’s not to love about that?

If you haven’t made a decision about Jesus Christ, then there is no better time than now. Don’t put it off. God loves you, and he gave up his one and only Son to die on the cross for you and me—for your sins and mine. And remember; the glorious truth of deliverance is that we are saved by grace through faith.

That is the SIMPLICITY OF SALVATION.
