An Idle Mind

by | Oct 22, 2024 | Battles of Life, Vigilance, Weapons

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

(Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV)

“For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.

(2 Thessalonians 3:11 ESV)

I have heard the saying that an idle mind is the devil’s playground. I believe it.

Have you ever just been daydreaming, not really paying attention to anything? Then a random thought runs through your mind, and you wonder where that came from? That came from the devil. He was testing to see if he could cause some trouble. I hope you didn’t let him.

The devil is on the warpath, trying to get everyone he can to walk away from God. He wants as many as he can get to go to the pits of hell with him when his time here is done. I want to encourage you today to guard your mouth, thoughts, and  hearts. Don’t let unforgiveness, doubt, anxiety, fear, greed, or anything else in. Those are things the devil can use against you. And he will every chance he gets. He knows what God is sending us and will use anything he can to stop any blessings he can. Stand strong and resist the devil. We have the power of the blood and the name of Jesus to do warfare against the devil and his demons. Use those weapons! “Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 ESV)

We must speak the name of Jesus, for demons tremble at the mere mention of it (See James 2:19 NIV). The demons know how powerful Jesus is and trembles when we just say His name. Jesus! Use your God-given power and make those demons regret ever messing with you.

Have a glorious day, everyone.
