Be a Joy Spreader

by | Jul 9, 2024 | Joy & Happiness, Kindness

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope.

(Romans 15:13 ESV)

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

(Psalm 16:11 ESV)

I have heard of gloomy Gus, Debby downer, negative Nancy, but not Joy spreader. I have heard of grass spreaders and manure spreaders. But not joy spreader. I prefer to be a joy spreader. I don’t have time to be gloomy, a downer, or negative. I like positive Patty, though.

Joy should be a way of life for everyone. There are so many things in the world that can bring joy. For example. Flowers, trees leafing out after a long winter. A baby’s smile, kids laughing. Sunsets and sunrises. I can even find joy in a thunderstorm as long as I don’t have to drive in it after dark. Other things that can bring joy are kind words, a hug, a couple holding hands, especially an older  couple. You know if they are holding hands, they have probably weathered some storms and come through victorious.

But the most important source of joy is Jesus. He loves us. He wants to see us happy and filled with joy.

The Oxford Language defines joy as “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” What brings you happiness? What fills your life with joy?

I can tell you one thing, if you are always fearful and anxious, joy is hard to find. You need to let go of the fear and anxiety. Let Jesus fill you with love and joy. Once you let go of those feelings, joy will move in and stay. Wouldn’t you rather have the joy and peace that comes from Jesus? Think about it.

Have a fabulous day, everyone.
