Pastors

by | Oct 2, 2023 | Church

“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

(Jeremiah 3:15 ESV)

“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”

What is a pastor?

According to google, “a minister is in charge of a Christian church or congregation.”

To me, a pastor is a very important person. They are in charge of not only the church and the everyday functions, but they are also in charge of their flock. That is a full-time job. Some of the flock can be pretty unruly.

I have been in several different churches. The one I grew up in, the pastor and his family, were friends with my parents. Their youngest daughter and I were friends. He was a good pastor. But something happened, and the church split. He was not the same after that. The next church I went to, the pastor knew how to grow a church. His sermons were a little on the boring side, though. When he left, we got a temporary pastor. He was an old-time fire and brimstone pastor. He walked in front of the church, holding his Bible. But he never looked at it. He knew it by heart. The pastor the board hired was a relatively new pastor. He had to get his sermon in regardless of if the Holy Spirit was flowing or not. He would shut it down so he could read his sermon. Yes, I said read. I ran the video, and he gave me a copy of the sermon.  People left. Including me. That church has a good pastor now, and the church is again growing.

The church I am in now is New Beginnings Church. I have been going there for 16 years. I love it. My pastor is the best. She cares about all of us. I hope you find a church you like.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
