“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”(Colossians 3:17 ESV)
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”(Psalm 136:1 ESV)
Google defines gratitude as, “The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”
Are you grateful when someone shows you a kindness? Do express your gratitude to them? That is a good thing to do. Thank people for their kindnesses shown to you. My mom taught us kids to be thankful for everything. We were taught to say please and thank you. A lot of kids now days are not taught that. Pity. Those two words can go a long way and open doors that otherwise would remain closed.
Now for the big question. Are you grateful for the things God does for you? Do you thank Him? God does so many things for us every day. But do we always thank Him or just expect Him to do it? I thank God for things throughout the day, everyday. I am just so grateful for all the things He has done and will do for me. God is with me, everyday, all day. There isn’t a day that He isn’t by my side, holding my hand to get me through the day. So on this Fourth of July, let’s be grateful for all the things we have. Let’s be grateful that God is with us.
Have a great holiday and stay safe.
