“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”(Matthew 5:14-16 ESV)
“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”(Ephesians 5:8 ESV)
You know how dark it gets when the power goes out at night? You scramble looking for candles and matches or a flashlight then batteries.
I spent almost a week once without power. A big storm came through and knocked out power to thousands of people. It got dark and hot. It was also boring. No tv, no radio, nothing to do. Couldn’t play on your phone or tablet unless you took them to your car to charge. But it was a good time to spend with God. I would spend the daylight hours reading books and my Bible. When night fell, I played on my tablet.
Without lights, nothing shines. If your light for Jesus has gone dim or out, you need to recharge and get back your shine. Your light is what guides others to Jesus. Your light shines like a beacon in the dark for lost souls to find their way back.
Has your light dimmed? Has it gone out completely? Maybe it’s time to be refilled and let your light shine brightly again. The world needs you to be that lighthouse to shine in the darkness. It needs a guiding light to show the way back to Jesus.
Be that beacon in the dark, shining for others to find the way back.
Have a blessed day.
