The Best You Possibly Can

by | Jun 12, 2022 | God's Love, Work

“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”

(Isaiah 1:17 ESV)

“Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals.’”

(1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV)

I saw this in a pamphlet I was reading. It’s written by John Wesley: Wesley’s Rule:

Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can, In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as you can.”

(Wesley’s Rule, by John Wesley)

Google defines good as, “To be desired or approved of.” Another definition is “That which is morally right; righteousness.” I like the first one, to be desired or approved of. Isn’t that what we all want? Don’t we all want to be approved of? Desired?

Well, we are. God desires us and approves of us. He loves us. With everything going crazy in the world now days, some just don’t feel loved or important. But we all are loved and are very important. There are more people than you realize that love you and want you in their lives.

But so many things tug us away. Kids going crazy, finances not where they should be, drugs, alcohol, parents getting older, cancer and other illnesses. But we have someone to run to. We can run to God, fall into His arms and let the weight of the world fall off of us and onto Him.

He wants us to depend on Him. He desires us to be the best we can be and spread goodness wherever we go. So wherever you go, put on a smile, tell someone about Him. Spread goodness everywhere and pray it sticks to others like peanut butter and it gets spread.

Have a blessed day.
