” Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. “ (Hebrews 12:1 ESV)
” For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. “ (Romans 3:23 ESV)
I sat myself down yesterday and took stock of my life. It’s been an interesting life so far. I have had my ups and downs, but who hasn’t?
I also weighed myself yesterday. This time last year I was 42 pounds heavier. I feel much better and I can move easier. It’s amazing how much better you can feel just getting rid of a little extra weight. No, I’m not to my goal but I will keep going until I get there. That doesn’t sound like a lot of weight, but take 42 pounds of something and carry it around for an hour or so. Then lay it down. See how it feels? You feel lighter, right?
Then I got to thinking. We all carry extra weight we don’t need. We carry the weight of sin with us. We need to lay that sin down and move into what God has for us. He has a plan and purpose for each of us.
So if you are struggling with the weight of sin today, give it to Jesus and let Him wash it away. Repent, ask for forgiveness then walk in love. Sometimes I have trouble walking in love, but I’m working on it with God’s help. I hope each person reading this has a blessed day.
