“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:31 NIV)
Nothing puts things into perspective when you are sitting on the side of the road broke down. Not my car, but I was there. While the car was being worked on, I watched the sunset. It was beautiful. There’s a saying used by sailor’s, “Red sky in morning, sailor’s take warning. Red sky at night, sailor’s delight.” Last night was a red sky night. It was another of God’s masterpieces.
I like astronomy. Not astrology, astronomy. I like to look up the hubble telescope online and look at the pictures of the universe. The universe is a beautiful place. Some of the pictures are breathtaking. God created all that. With one word, the planets and stars were formed. He even created everything here. I do feel sorry for Adam though. He was only a few hours old and had to name everything. Can you imagine a newborn trying to name a bunch of animals? But I suspect God helped him a little.
But God created us too. He knew us before we were even thought about by our parents. He loves us so much that he knows everything about us and still loves us.
I had the privilege of holding my great grandson yesterday for a couple of hours. His mom was getting her hair done for her sister’s wedding Saturday. There’s nothing better than holding a baby. But I also got to hold his cousin. She is 3 and was feeling a little tired so she climbed on my lap and snuggled.
God’s masterpieces are everywhere. Just look around. From the beauty of nature to the wonder and joy of kids, we are all his masterpieces.
