I am the Lord Your God

by | Jan 16, 2016 | Law of God

“The LORD said to Moses, ‘Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: “Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy. Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.” Lev. (19:1-4)

The 19th chapter of Leviticus repeats over and over again the commandments of God, and after each command, as in the one given in Lev. 19:4, God says: “I am the LORD your God!” In fact, these words are mentioned 15 times in just 37 verses, and always after restating one of His commands! But why?

I would like to propose that God wants us to learn to trust Him because HE IS GOD! He wants us to have faith that He knows what’s best for us because He is all-knowing! He wants us to do these things because He is “the LORD”!

We don’t need to question God. If we analyze His commands in detail, we find out that they make perfect sense. They were given out of love to protect us, not to limit us! We must learn to accept His plans and His commands without questioning. When He gives an assignment, we must trust Him to know it is right. Why? Because He is “the LORD your God!”

In His love,
Lyn
