Trust and Obey

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Obedience

“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.” (Proverbs 3:5-7 AMP)

God loves us and has a wonderful purpose and plan for each one of His children. If we want to enjoy God’s perfect plan, we will have to trust and obey our heavenly Father. When we are sincerely willing to trust and obey God, He will lead us on an exciting journey of learning to hear from Him every day of our lives. As we yield ourselves to God, the Holy Spirit will constantly teach, enlighten and guide us.

When we receive Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence within us. He slowly expands His presence until there is more of Him and less of our old selfish nature. This happens as we choose His will over our own. We must learn to allow God to take the lead role in our daily lives.

We should be diligent about spending time with God every day and making that time with Him our number one priority. We draw near to Him as we spend time in His Word and in prayer. Time with God separates us from the world and brings us into His presence. He will give us understanding of His Word and He will speak to us through His Word. He will change us as we spend time with Him. Change comes as a result of having our minds renewed by the Word of God. As we agree with God by believing His Word, we will begin to think differently, talk differently, and act differently. Change is a process; it comes little by little.

We need to learn to lean on God and ask for His help. He cares about everything that concerns us. He tells us to cast all our care over on Him and trust Him to take care of us. He wants us to pray about everything and place our trust in Him, totally surrendering ourselves to His care. We learn to trust God by going through many experiences that require trust and by seeing His faithfulness over and over. His ways are perfect and so is His timing. He uses times of waiting to stretch our faith and to bring about change and growth in our lives. When we learn to trust God and accept His timing, we can enjoy our lives while He is working on our problems.

God loves us and wants us to love Him so much that we become wholly dedicated to Him. We must become doers of the Word and not hearers only. God has empowered us with His Spirit to do His will. We need to obey the written Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. The leading of the Holy Spirit will always be in agreement with God’s Word. As we listen to God and follow Him daily, He will direct our steps, one step at a time. When we put God first and follow His leading, He will work all things together for our good. He will fulfill His plan for our lives as we trust and obey Him. Trusting and obeying God will lead us into the most thrilling life of victory and blessing we could ever imagine!

Pray this:

“Heavenly Father, I want to live the life You have called me to live. Thank You for giving me the power to do Your will. Teach me to trust and obey You more every day. Help me to listen to You and follow You daily. Thank You for directing my steps, one step at a time. Thank You for fulfilling Your plan for my life as I surrender all to You.”

“In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
