Few of us will wonder at the liberty of flight which the butterfly enjoys until we ponder on its transitory stages of development, its penultimate state as a caterpillar.
A caterpillar is almost immovable, unsightly, susceptible to predators and economically undesirable because it destroys vegetables. But a butterfly adds value by pollination, which gives fragrance and is used for some perfumes, it is not vulnerable to predators, has a smooth and beautiful covering and adorns the air with its gorgeous flight.
By comparison and contrast, there is no resemblance between both. There is no vestige of characteristics of the caterpillar that became manifested in the butterfly. The Transformation of the caterpillar into the butterfly is diametrically paradoxical!
So shall it be with us. In our present life experiences, we might be undergoing circumstances and conditions that can be likened to the features of the caterpillar-unwelcome, despised, needy and other such ignominy. But like the butterfly we shall be transformed into striking spectacles of Glory with the dazzling beauty and magnificence of the Holy Spirit. ”And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” (2 Cor. 3:18)
As we look into The Word of God, His Glory will become manifested in all that pertains to us-homes, finances, careers, dreams, etc. As you behold The Word of God, you are being changed into His image of Glory that is “…beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease.” (2 Cor. 4:17)
Just like there is no verisimilitude between the caterpillar and the butterfly, so there would be no trace of your old condition with your new status. Everything about you will echo and radiate Glory as you keep beholding The Word of God. No effort from your part is required, only a steady gaze into God’s Word.
