Have you Decided What God is to You?

by | Oct 18, 2014 | God Cares, Gods Existence

Meditate on Psalm 18:1-2:

“I will love You, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my Rock and Fortress and my Deliverer; my GOD, my Strength, in whom I will trust; my Shield and the Horn Of My Salvation, my Stronghold.”

1. THE LORD IS MY ROCK

FOUNDATION – The Hebrew word for “ROCK” is “SELA” meaning fortress, a cliff. “SELA” is translated “ROCK” 54 times. (Isa 16:1 / 2 Kings 14:7)

Four Important Rocks In The Scripture

a) GOD – A Rock or Foundation (Ps 18:2, 31:3, 40:2, 42:9, 71:3 / 2 Sam 22:2)

b) CHRIST – The Smitten Rock (Ps 78:16 / Num 20:8-11 / Neh 9:15 / 1 Cor 10:4)

c) CHRIST – The Foundation of the Church (Matt 16:18 / Rom 9:33 / 1 Cor 3:11-15 / 1 Pet 2:8)

d) THE CAPITAL OF EDOM (2 King 14:7 / Isa 16:1)

2. THE LORD IS MY FORTRESS
MOUNTAIN, STRONGHOLD – A place of strength and safety where the enemy cannot touch me. (Ps 18:2, 31:3, 71:3, 91:2, 144:2 / Jer 16:9)

3. THE LORD IS MY DELIVERER

He causes me to escape from all plans and strategies of the devil and his hosts. (Ps 18:2, 40:17, 70:5, 144:2)

4. THE LORD IS MY GOD

In Hebrew “EL” means the Almighty, the Strong One. El is God the Omnipotent; the God Who KNOWS ALL, SEES ALL and PERFORMS ALL things for His people. Therefore, I will trust in Him forever, Amen. (Ps 57:2)

5. THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH

The word “STRENGTH” in Hebrew is “TSUR” meaning firmness, fountain, source, origin. The Lord is my Firm Foundation and Source, therefore I am not weak and will not be a weakling. (Ps 18:2, 19:14, 73:26, 144:1 / Isa 26:4)

6. THE LORD IS MY BUCKLER

Shield, Defender (Ps 18:2, 30 / Prov 2:7)

Our God always covers our heads and hearts so that neither is wounded by the darts of the enemy. He defends me at all times, every moment and in every situation.

7. THE LORD IS THE HORN OF MY SALVATION

Horns are frequently used in Scripture as a symbol of power, hence this means a powerful salvation. Therefore, I will not lost my priceless salvation from the Lord due to sin and temptation. (Ps 18:2 / 2 Sam 22:3)

8. THE LORD IS OUR HIGH TOWER

The word “HIGH TOWER” in Hebrew is “MISGAB” meaning a place so high as to be out of danger. As I abide in the Lord, the enemy can do me no harm because I am hidden in the High Tower of my Messiah. (Ps 18:2, 144:2 / 2 Sam 22:3)
