“And fearing that we might run on the rocks, they let down four anchors from the stern and prayed for day to come.”
(Acts 27:29 ESV)
“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”
(Psalm 62:5-6 ESV)
When the storms of life come, how do you manage them? Do you fall apart? Do you run away and hide, hoping they will blow right by you? Or do you drop your anchor and face them head on?
There’s a song called “The Anchor Holds” by Ray Boltz:
“The anchor holds,
The Anchor Holds by Ray Boltz
Though the ship is battered.
The anchor holds,
Though the sails are torn.”
Is your ship battered? Are your sails torn? Then it’s time to drop anchor and call on the rock to save you. Why a rock? Rocks sink, they don’t float. Jesus is the rock we should be clinging to. Jesus can save us from any storm, including ourselves.
We can create storms too. Just by being out of the will of God can open doors for the devil to come in. Then look out. He will pull out all the stops to try to make you fail, or think you are failing. The devil knows his time is short and is working to cut the chains to our anchor. If he can separate us from the will of God, then he has won. Our anchors gone. But we can get it back. Just repent, ask forgiveness and your anchor is back.
Let me ask you this. Is there any unforgiveness in your heart? Do you have any issues with family or friends? Depression, anxiety? Let it all go and let Jesus work on them for you. When the devil comes knocking, ask Jesus to answer. The devil will take off. So get your heart right with God and try your best to stay in His will for you. He has plans for all of us and he needs willing, cooperate hearts to fulfill those plans.
Have a great day everyone.
