Another Year

You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.

(Deuteronomy 5:33 ESV)

Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.

(Proverbs 16:31 ESV)

Well, another year has come and gone. God has granted me a fairly long life. Seventy-one years today.

I hate to say I haven’t always had a close walk with God. But in the past almost 20 years I have been doing better. God has seen me through a lot of issues. He has taught me some hard lessons. People have come and gone in my life.

The in-between years weren’t always easy. I mean the years between high school graduation and when I finally decided it was time to come back to the fold. I wasted 29 years. I should say they weren’t totally wasted. I still prayed and read my Bible. But I wasn’t walking as closely with God as He wanted me to. I have now learned that no matter what I did or how I acted, God still loved me and was waiting for me to come back. God did not walk away from me just because I wasn’t walking closely with Him.

God loves us. He will wait as long as it takes for us to wake up and return to the fold. So if you think you are too far gone for God to care about you, think again. No one is that far gone. God will forgive you and take you back.

Have a fabulous day.
