Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
(Romans 12:12 ESV)
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
(Romans 8:25 ESV)
With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
(Ephesians 4:2 ESV)
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!
(Psalm 37:7 ESV)
According to Oxford Languages, patience is defined as “the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.” That was not me yesterday. It was a long day. A lot was crammed into a few hours. My patience was running on empty by the time I went to bed. But today is a new day. Another opportunity to get it right. I pray I do better today.
I found a lot of scriptures on patience:
1. King James Version (KJV):
One source lists 34 verses with the word “patience”.
Another search finds 36 verses using “Patience”.
This translation also shows 9 verses for “patient” and 6 for “patiently”.
2. New International Version (NIV):
Contains 16 verses with the word “patience”.
3. Other English — Standard Version (ESV) and New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) searches:
These translations each show 27 verses specifically for “Patience”.
4. New Living Translation (NLT) search:
This search also results in 27 verses for “Patience”.
Do you think patience is important? I’m thinking it is since it’s listed so many times. So my advice today is if your patience is running thin. Take a deep breath, ask God for patience and move on. That is my plan.
Have a blessed and calm day.
