What Is Love?

by | Jul 24, 2025 | God's Love, Love

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

(1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV)

Let all that you do be done in love.

(1 Corinthians 16:14 ESV)

According to Oxford Languages, love is, “to feel deep affection for someone.”

Do you love someone? Spouse, child, grandkids, family members? How about friends? What about God?

God loves you so do you love God? How much do you love God? When you stand face to face with God and He asks you who do you love? Who will be first on the list? God is first on my list but family and friends are next on my list.

What about things? Do you put objects before God and family? What about money?

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21 KJV). Where is your treasure? What do you treasure? Do you treasure God or things?

As for myself, my first treasure is God. God has my heart. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have issues. But everything melts away when one of my daughters, grand or great-grandkids hugs me and says “I love you.” There’s nothing sweeter than a hug and kiss from your kids and grandkids. But when God loves on you there is such peace and contentment. God is pure love. I highly recommend it.

I hope everyone reading this finds the love that can only come from God.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.
