Today, take a few minutes to sit quietly and be thankful for all you have. Are you thankful for what you have? Or do you see something someone else has, and you have to have one too, only bigger and better? Can you tell me why you feel that way? Do you go deep into debt to prove you are better?
God wants us to have our hearts desires but not in competition with others. God gives good gifts if we obey Him and do what He has for us to do.
Realistically, do you really need a big boat or the newest or the greatest car or whatever? Can you afford them? Did you ask God if you could get them or just run out and get them even if you can’t afford them? Either way, did you thank God for them? All God wants is our praise and being thankful and satisfied with the things we already have.
So the next time your neighbor gets something, congratulate them and admire them. But don’t covet what your neighbor has. Covet, instead, what God has for you.
