Forgiveness

by | Aug 31, 2022 | Forgiveness

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

(Mark 11:25 ESV)

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

(1 John 1:9 ESV)

“But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

(Matthew 6:15 ESV

The word “forgive” appears 127 times throughout the books of the Bible. You think it might be important?

Google defines forgiven as, “The action or process of forgiving or being forgiven.” It can also mean pardoned.

We all sin. But if we ask God’s forgiveness He is quick to forgive or pardon our sins. But what if He didn’t forgive us? I hate to think about what would happen to us. But He does. He forgives us even when we keep sinning over and over.

I’m sure God wishes we could live a totally sin free life but he gave us free will so he knows that we will sin from time to time. There’s a song called “Forgiven” by Crowder:

“Forgiven, forgiven.
You love me even when I don’t deserve it.
Forgiven, I’m Forgiven.
Jesus Your blood makes me innocent.
So I will say goodbye to every sin.
I am forgiven.”

Forgiven by Crowder

See? We are forgiven. The blood Jesus shed on the cross cleansed us. But it’s not enough to ask our forgiveness. We need to forgive others too. If you hold unforgiveness in your heart, let it go. Let it go now. Forgive whoever you think has wronged you. Then ask forgiveness from God. He doesn’t want us to hold onto that. You will feel better too. So let all unforgiveness go right now.

God loves you and so do I. Have a blessed day everyone.
