“The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.'” (Psalm 91:14-16 NLT)
“And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21 ESV)
There have been times when I felt like I needed to be rescued. Mostly from stupid decisions I have made. And just about every time, Jesus rescued me. There have been a couple times when He didn’t rescue me. He let me figure it put on my own. Those were the times He was trying to teach me to lean more on Him and not be so involved in worldly issues. They were hard lessons to learn but I learned them. And I have not repeated those mistakes again.
I heard the song “Rescue Story” by Zach Williams:
“You were the voice in the desert,
Rescue Story by Zach Williams
Calling me out in the dead of night,
Fighting my battles for me.
You are my rescue story.
Lifted me up from the ashes,
Carried my soul from death to life,
Bringing me from glory to glory.
You are my rescue story.”
Jesus is my rescue story. He brought me out of the miry clay. My feet are firmly planted on the Rock.
I ask Jesus every morning to take my hand and walk with me. You see, I can’t take a step without Jesus at my side. Nor do I want to. Jesus is my rock, my firm foundation on which I build my life. He guides me, loves me and takes care of me.
And if He does it for me, He will do it for you too. All you have to do is ask. Jesus is waiting. Just ask Him into your life. Tell Him you need Him and want Him.
Today is a good day to do it. Go ahead, He’s waiting for you.
