“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.'” (Isaiah 41:13 NIV)
“Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.” (2 Timothy 2:23-24 NIV)
According to google, an obstacle is: “A thing that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress.”
So what could block your way? I know a lot of physical obstacles but what about spiritual obstacles? Doubt, unbelief, fear, anxiety, just to name a few. These are all brought in through a crack in our armour. The devil likes to sneak in when our defenses are down. He whispers in our ear, “you’re not good enough. No one ever liked you anyway.” And so on.
What do you do when you hear negative things said? Do you get defensive and fight back? Or do you curl up in a ball and try to hide?
Me? I’m the second option. I would always try to hide away and hope they wouldn’t see me. Never did work, I was always found and ridiculed some more. But I have since been restored. I actually forgave the people who made my life miserable. I can’t tell one of them because he passed away. The other one, we are now good friends. No, I haven’t said I forgive this person, but I also don’t feel like I need to.
But now those obstacles are gone. I am free to move ahead and do what God is calling me to do. So do you think doubt, fear, anxiety and unforgiveness are obstacles? I do. They prevent progress and growth, so they are obstacles. I say let them go. Forgive who needs to be forgiven, lay down the rest and don’t look back. You don’t need them.
So whatever you are holding onto today, lay them down, walk away and don’t look back. May God grant you the kind of peace that only comes from heaven. May all of your obstacles be taken away.
