Everlasting Covenant

by | Nov 1, 2018 | Poems

In the midst of the storm, my daughter told me, “Your Jesus is all you have!”

Truly, truly, I was not denied,
I cry to Jesus Christ day and night.
I talk to Jesus Christ who is my true friend,
When I feel the pain rubs me to not end;
I sing praise songs, which echo in my ear,
And the fear flees from me,
To God be the glory.

I turned to Jesus Christ,
when employers pass my name by,
When my debt pill up so high,
That I have no money to buy,
The things my family needs.

God is faithful;
He will neither turn me down,
Nor say Goodbye,
Nor leave me on my own in the midst of the storm

In all situations, I hear the Holy Spirit reminding me,
Of what is written:

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you…”(Is. 55:1-3 NIV)
