Matthew 2:1-2: “Now Jesus having been born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the king, behold magi from the east arrived at Jerusalem, saying, 2 Where is the king of the Jews that has been born? For we have seen his star in the east, and have come to do him homage.”
The magi were seeking the light of the star which would lead them to the King of the Jews. What they were really seeking was the Light of the world. That is who they were seeking and they finally found Him.
John 8:12: “Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
There are a lot of people in this world who are seeking light or seeking God through different religions or groups. The light cannot be found in any of these things. The Light is only found when a person finds Jesus Christ.
A few days after the death of the former Beatle George Harrison, I heard someone say that they thought that George Harrison was in heaven. They said George was seeking God but he was doing this through Eastern religions. These do not teach that Jesus is the Christ, the messiah. What did Jesus say about people seeking light, God or heaven?
Luke 13:23-28: “And one said to him, Sir, are such as are to be saved few in number? But he said unto them, Strive with earnestness to enter in through the narrow door, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in and will not be able. From the time that the master of the house shall have risen up and shall have shut the door, and ye shall begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he answering shall say to you, I know you not whence ye are: then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten in thy presence and drunk, and thou hast taught in our streets; and he shall say, I tell you, I do not know you whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves cast out.”
A lot of people are involved in seeking light, God or heaven but they don’t know Jesus Christ. They don’t have a personal, intimate relationship with Him. That is what it means to know Him and for him to know you. If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ and have a relationship with Him, do it now!
If you know the light you don’t have to seek any more. If you do know the Light and say that you are seeking light you are saying that Jesus Christ is not the light! This is blasphemy! If you are truly seeking light, god or heaven, look to Jesus Christ and Him alone. Get to know him personally and intimately. Start by asking Him into your heart and continue in a relationship with Him. Then you can stop your search.
