Lessons on Relationship From Solomon, Part 3: Unit 1: God’s Part in the Relationship, Part A: How God Sees Us: Pure and Innocent as the Day you were Born…

by | Nov 21, 2015 | Lessons on Relationships From Solomon (A Mini-Series), Relationship

In last week’s lesson on how God sees us, we discovered the truth from Song of Solomon 1:5-6 & 15, that no matter what you have done in your life, you are BEAUTIFUL in God’s eyes! You don’t need to be ashamed. You don’t need to think of yourself as dirty or unworthy. God sees you as BEAUTIFUL! And since this is how God sees you, you should see yourself in the same way!

But did you ever feel as if there was nothing special about you at all? Like you were created from the leftovers of God’s master designs? Like you really don’t have a clue why you are even here? Like it might have been better if you’d never been born? Let’s look at what Song of Solomon 6:8-9 has to say about that!

“There’s no one like her on earth, never has been, never will be. She’s a woman beyond compare. My dove is perfection, Pure and innocent as the day she was born, and cradled in joy by her mother.” (Song 6:8-9 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. Good news, friend! You are unique: “There’s NO ONE like [you] on Earth, never has been, never will be!” (Song 6:8); but you are just the way God planned you to be.

Psalms 139 sums it up nicely: “You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, You watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before You, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.” (Ps 139:15-16 from THE MESSAGE). Friend, God knows you intimately. He even knows your faults! Before you were born, He planned your days and He knew each path you would take!

“But,” you continue to argue, “I’ve done so many bad things in my life! How can God love me at all???”

Friends, if you have given your heart to Jesus, the bad things you did in the past don’t even count anymore! The day you gave your heart to Jesus, you were washed clean: “If your sins are blood-red, they’ll be snow-white. If they’re red like crimson, they’ll be like wool.” (Isa 1:18 from THE MESSAGE) Once we’ve given our hearts to Jesus, God no longer sees the bad things we have done! In Solomon’s words: “My dove is PERFECTION, PURE and INNOCENT as the day she was born, and cradled in joy by her mother.” (Song of Solomon 6:9, THE MESSAGE)

Enough to ponder for today. Please DO ponder this though, my friends. Ponder the truth that when you’ve given your heart to Jesus, He washes you clean. He sees you as pure and innocent, unique and perfect! And if He sees you that way, than why can’t you see yourself the same way?

Please join us next Saturday for Lesson 4, the last lesson on how God sees us: As a Lotus blossoming in a swamp of weeds!

In His love,

Lyn
