This Little Light of Mine

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Love, Witnessing

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” (Jer 31:3)

I feel I must share my story.  It is so amazing how every day of our lives the Lord’s teaches us new lessons and also allows us to be a light house for Jesus.

One afternoon ago, before preparing a meal, I noticed the leftovers from the day before and very disheartened, I knew that no one was going to eat that which prepared the day before. As if in secret code, my heart had sent a message to the Lord.

A few minutes later, there was a knock on my door and a very sad picture stood there.  A tired and weary mother with a young child on her back asking for anything to eat.

A silent prayer of thank you went up to the master as I prepared the meal for her.  Continuing to commune with the Holy Spirit, I asked Him, what else does she need?  I found myself emptying out my daughters drawer looking for a jersey and some other clothing to assist in this plight including a few more groceries.

After finishing up and giving her all I had in my hand, I saw tears of gratefulness and here is her story:

She started to say, I walked up this road many times today and no-one helped me by giving me so as I was on my home, I prayed for help and the still voice told me to go one more time up the road to this house and the person inside will give what you need.

She continued to say that the baby on her back is a desperate need of a jersey. Even as she walked away that day, thanking the Lord above for meeting her on time, I knew in my heart that divine appointment comes with perfect timing where hearts meet with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Here are the lessons , I learned that blessed day:

We are his extended hand to give freely to those in need.

We are his extended heart to love those that know no love.

We are his extended voice to direct those who got lost along the way

We are his extended feet to walk the extra mile

We are his extended eyes to see beyond the façade

We are his extended ear, to listen to their cry

We are the extended shoulders which supports a tired head

We are the extended knees that intercedes of their behalf.

We are the extended arms that gives comfort in their trials

We are God’s extension to the lost sheep and as his ambassadors, let our light so shine that all who are lost and weary may find direction to the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s.

We love unconditionally because Jesus loves us unconditionally and we are the extension of God’s love on earth.
