T-Shirt City

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Love, Value

“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered. I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!” (Psalm 139:17,18)

T-shirt City. That’s the corner of the closet where our T-shirts live, quite a few in fact.

Some of the citizens of the city are more than thirty-five years old, some newbies at less than a year. Most of them come from trips; favorites are one from NYC, an Elvis shirt from TN, and another from a family reunion in CO. The best of all are those with the kids’ drawings on it or photos of family members.

T-shirts can be personal items having sentimental value. They can be hard to part with and easy to pile up. Collectibles. Seldom worn yet treasured and stockpiled.

God says He treasures us (a) and saves us (b). He could never part with one us. Ever. He sees the sad times, when He collects our tears and saves them in a gigantic heavenly sized bottle (c). He sees the happy times, like the the family reunion shirts (d).

He is always in remembrance of us; yes, we are always on His mind (e). Betcha the whole of heaven is like T-shirt city. What an awesome wonderful Father GOD we have.

That is good news.

(a) You are precious to me.  “You are honored, and I love you.” (Is 43:4b) “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession.” (Zechariah 2:8b)

(b) “I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer.” (Isaiah 49:26)

c) “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8)

(d) “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (Zephaniah 3:17)

(e) “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.” (Isaiah 49:16a)
