“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
(Psalm 34:18 ESV)
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
(Revelation 21:4 ESV)
Google defines grief as, “Deep sorrow, especially that caused by someone’s death.” You know, grief is a funny thing. It can sneak up on you when you least expect it. It can steal your joy and peace.
I was thinking about my mom yesterday evening. I never really grieved when she died. There was too much to do. Then everyone was telling me I was taking it so well. And I did. God took care of me. He kept me calm. He gave me peace. He kept reminding me that she was with Him, healthy and happy. There was no reason to grieve. I knew she is where she wanted to be for a long time. I did shed a few tears in private but I still don’t feel the need to grieve her death.
God will take your grief and turn it into joy if you will let Him. He did it for me, He will do it for you.
The death of a loved one isn’t the only reason someone may grieve. For instance, there’s the loss of a loved one to drugs. Even though they may still be alive, you can grieve because of the path they have chosen. But God can take that grief, too, and turn it to joy. He can give you peace when you didn’t think you would ever have peace again. Or the loss of a beloved pet. Those critters can sneak into your heart and become family to you.
So no matter what you may be grieving about, give it God and let Him replace it with joy and peace.
Have a blessed day.
