“We are just travelers on this earth and God is our eternal abode.” (Philippians 3:20 ESV)
“Home is where there is unconditional love, everlasting peace, overflowing joy, and strong security. Jesus is home!” (Psalm 90:1 ESV)
Ever have a day when things just don’t go right? You feel like everything is against you? I have had days like that. I just want to throw my hands up and say I quit. I give up. But not anymore. God has it under control.
As a kid, and even after growing up, we moved. A lot! Mom said we moved 21 times by the time I was 12. We got good at packing. To say the least, I don’t like moving. When I moved into my apartment, I decided no more. This is my last move. But it’s not. Even if I am fortunate enough to stay here until I pass or Jesus comes back, I have one more move.
You see this home is temporary. Below is part of the song, “Temporary Home”:
“Then I remember I’m not a part of this world
I’m moving higher each day
Upward mobility sounds mighty good to me |
And I just can’t wait to get away.
I got to remember
I’m not here to say
I’m looking forward to a brighter day
I got to remember
I’m not here for long
I’m just livin’ in my temporary home.”
Doesn’t that sound good? Moving upward to my permanent home, where I won’t have to move anymore. I won’t have to pack my belongings and move.
Jesus is coming soon to take his children home. Are you ready? One last move up to glory. I am so ready for that day. The day Jesus says come on home. We are waiting for you.
