Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
(Proverbs 18:21 ESV)
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
(Ephesians 4:29 ESV)
There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
(Proverbs 12:18 ESV)
Your words have power. One word can bring peace or hurt. Words can build up a person but can also tear them down. Words speak life.
I have seen parents praise their kids and shower them with love. But I have seen parents demean their children so badly that they never recover.
Oxford Languages defines demean as: “cause a severe loss in the dignity of and respect for someone or something.” I have seen children so broken by the words their parents say to them. I just want to hug them close and love on them.
Jesus spoke life to people. He watched His words. We also need to. So the next time you want to speak out in anger, stop and think. Is this how you want to be spoken too?
Have a fabulous day.
