Walls and Barriers

by | Jun 24, 2025 | Forgiveness

By faith, the walls of Jericho fell after they had been encircled for seven days.

(Hebrews 11:30 ESV)

A day for the building of your walls! On that day the boundary shall be far extended.

(Micah 7:11 ESV)

According to AI Overview, “Walls and barriers are structures or features that impede or prevent movement or access. Walls are generally understood as solid, often vertical structures, while barriers can be any obstacle, physical or otherwise, that limits passage or interaction.”

Do you know we build walls to keep people out or to keep things in? Walls work both ways.

We can build walls to keep emotions in check. I built a wall against my dad. I tried to keep my hurt and disappointment behind that wall.

It wasn’t until years after he went to heaven that I was finally able to forgive him. Does it really count as forgiveness if you can’t tell that person face-to-face?

Yes. I believe it does. One Sunday years ago now, the sermon was on forgiveness. Pastor stressed that even if the person has passed away it counts if it makes you feel better. It did. It took several times because the devil kept bringing up things Dad said to me to hurt me. But once I took a stand the devil backed off.

We all have walls and barriers. We need to identify these and start tearing them down.  I won’t lie and say it’s easy because it’s not. Tearing down walls and barriers isn’t easy. It takes a lot of work but it will be worth it. Ask God to help you. He will be with you every step of the way.

Have a great day, everyone.
