“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV)
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
(Colossians 3:17 ESV)
Happy Thanksgiving. Let’s break that down:
According to google…
1. Happy.. “feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.” Pretty self-explanatory.
2. Now break down Thanksgiving. Thanks.. “an expression of gratitude.” Do you thank someone when they help you, give you something, or compliment you? Do you thank God for things? Do you thank God when he gives you something or intervenes for you? God doesn’t need your thanks to help you. But it is sure nice to hear it once in a while, and I’m sure God likes to hear it, too.
3. Giving.. “freely transfer the possession of something to someone; hand over to.” How many times does God give you something? Well, let me tell you. Everyday! He wakes you up each day. He gives you a beautiful sunrise and sunset. He provides for you. God gives us more than we think. If it wasn’t for God intervening for us, we would be a wreck looking for somewhere to happen.
I don’t know about you, but I need God more than He needs me. I need God every minute of every day. So I want to encourage you today, before you sit down and stuff yourself, give thanks for the food.
Happy Thanksgiving. Have a great day.
