Light Me Up

by | Dec 1, 2021 | Holy Spirit, Witnessing

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 ESV)

“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” (Romans 12:11 ESV)

Do you feel dull? Not as sharp in the spirit that you should be?

This is from the song What If by Matthew West.

“I’m gonna dream a little bigger,
Burn a little brighter.
Stand a little taller, closer to Your fire.
Dig a little deeper,
Reach a little further,
Love a little harder.”

What If by Matthew West

I will admit it, I’m not as sharp as I should be. I have let too much of the world in, I opened a door that should be locked, nailed shut and blocked off. God has told me before to dream big. So I have been and some of what I have been asking for has come. But the really big things haven’t. So I asked God. I said, “Hey God! What’s going on? Where am I missing it?”

God answered me with questions, “Why have you quit asking? Why have you stopped listening for My voice?”

Ouch! That kind of smarted. I hadn’t realized I hadn’t been listening for Him as I should. I used to. But I can, and will, change. I will seek His face, I will pray more and longer. I will pray more in the Spirit. I ask God for the fire to fall on me, light me up Lord! Make me on fire for You again.

Back when I was first saved, I was on fire. I set out to save the world. Well, the world didn’t want to be saved and shut me down quickly. I got my poor little feelings hurt and stopped trying. Then I stopped going to church but finally came back. I felt like I was finally home again. But I miss the fire. I need it to get me through each day. So God, light me up, strike the match and set me on fire again for You.

How about you? Are you needing a good healthy dose of Holy Ghost fire? Look up. It’s coming.

Have a great day everyone.
