LESSONS ON RELATIONSHIP FROM SOLOMON, PART 5: Unit 1: GOD’s Part in the Relationship, Part B: How Much God Desires to be with us: Vaulting the Mountains, Leaping the Hills

by | Nov 21, 2015 | Lessons on Relationships From Solomon (A Mini-Series), Relationship

In the last three lessons, we glimpsed a brief image of how God sees each of us: Beautiful; Innocent and perfect; and as a lotus blossom in a swamp of weeds!

The next five lessons will be looking at how much God desires to be with each of us. Let’s start in Song of Solomon 2:8-9:

“Look! Listen! There’s my lover! Do you see him coming? Vaulting the mountains, leaping the hills. My lover is like a gazelle, graceful; like a young stag, virile. Look at him there, on tiptoe at the gate, all ears, all eyes – ready! My lover has arrived and he’s speaking to me!” (Song 2:8-9 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

Can you see it? The mountain goat bounding down the mountainside, leaping over fallen trees and rocks, flying across ravines, crashing through fallen timber . . . Where is it going? You will probably never know, but one thing is sure, he is in a big hurry to get there!

Solomon uses this same imagery, only he isn’t referring to an animal. He’s referring to the Maker of the universe! Our Lord, our Savior Himself! We may never know where the mountain goat was headed, but Solomon tells us where God is headed: “Vaulting the mountains, leaping the hills . . . Look at Him there, on tiptoe at the gate, all ears, all eyes – ready! My lover has arrived and He’s speaking to ME!” Friend, the God of the universe vaults mountains and leaps hills in order to speak-to YOU! That’s how much He longs to spend time with you!

Don’t disappoint the God of the universe, my friend! He’s running as fast as He can to be with you. Reach out to Him! Look His way! Give Him your time! You will NEVER regret the time you spend with God!

Enough to ponder for today. Please DO ponder this though, my friends. Ponder the truth that God longs to be with us so much that He comes “vaulting the mountains, leaping the hills.” He stands “on tiptoe at the gate” waiting for that chance to speak to us. That’s how much He longs for our company and companionship!

Please join us next Saturday for Lessons on Relationships From Solomon, Lesson 6!

In His love,
