Rocky

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Death, Lessons From Pets, Spiritual Life

Rocky was my 14 year old male 1/2 boxer and 1/2 great dane, he was a force to be reckoned with. He was a great watch dog, always doing his job and loving us without question. Now Sassy (she lived up to her name) was an 11 year old full-blooded Boxer. Rocky loved Sassy beyond reason. She nagged at him, bossed him around, took the choicest pieces of food making him wait until she was done; but still Rocky loved her. Once-in-awhile Rocky would have enough and bring her down to size. All he had to do was growl and snap at her. Sassy would be so scared that she would fall down at Rocky’s feet. She would just lie there shaking, too scared to get up.

Friends, we go around like Sassy. We assume we can get away with things that are not to the Father’s liking and think, “He loves me so much that He will let me slide this time”. We push and we push. One day the Father is going to put us in our place the way Rocky would do Sassy. Then we, too, shall fall at His feet shaking and too scared to get up. Let’s not wait that long, for then it will be too late. We need to realize here and now, that God will not keep on taking it.

One day we found Sassy dead. She was a big, strong, healthy boxer and we were shocked that she had died. We always figured that Rocky, being older, would die first. Now Rocky missed Sassy terribly. He would be walking across the yard, sit down and howl and whimper. This went on for about a week, then Rocky just stopped doing that. Oh he was still sad and still missed Sassy, for he never acted the same again. It was like some of the life had gone out of him.

We could die at any moment, ready or not. How do you think God feels when He looses one of us? You know we hurt the Father when we turn away from Him. When we follow satan and never turn back, a little life must leave God also. All that God has given me and done for me, I do not wish to make Him sad for even a second. How about you?

“One tear can raise the sea level, band one drop of His’ precious blood can cleanse a world, if only we would let Him”

Your’s in Christ,

Pat Finn
