Scripture
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” (Ps 55-22)
Observation
The first thing to do is to throw off our cares, this is an action, rather like throwing off a coat. Sometimes cares creep up on us and other times they ambush us. They cling to us like clothing and we can wear them around as part of our outward appearance. When we are full of cares, it shows on our face, our body language and our whole approach to life. God tells us to throw them onto Him, so that He can deal with them. If we can not change the situations that we find ourselves in, then what better place to take those worries and concerns and give them to the Creator of the universe. When we do that we are given an endurance from Him, we lose the extra weight that would hinder us and we can freely walk in the way that The Lord has planned for us. When we are sustained then we are less likely to fall and in fact the Lord does not let us fall. When we bring our cares and requests to God our hearts and minds are guarded and we walk with a spring in our steps.
Application
I desire to take my cares to God and not get tangled up by them. At times He will lead me to take action, at other times I just need to rest in Him. I know that as I give my cares to the Lord He will give me an endurance and steadiness in my walk with Him. Giving my cares to Him means that I am relating to Him in an on-going way. Relating to the Lord everyday keeps our steps sure.
Prayer
Lord, please help me cast all my cares on You so that I can be sustained and steady, in Jesus name, amen.
